Should we die for some great cause?
It depends on yourself. Two thousand years ago a famous philosopher of Confuciusim, 孟子（孟轲, Meng Ke）has this kind of theory: “Fish is what I want, bear's paw is what I want, if I can't get two things at the same time, I will choose bear's paw and discard fish. Life is what I want, justice is what I want, if I can not get two things at the same time, I will choose justice and give up my life.”
So he said: Life is what I want, but there is something I want more, so sometimes I give up my life. Death is what I hate, but there is something more disgusting than death, so sometimes I do not evade even if there are disasters.
So when you do a just cause, do you have to pay for your life? You can choose to give up or not to give up, even if not to give up will make great causes success, give up will make great causes failure. But the most important thing is, will you regret for your choice?
From ancient times to the present, both Chinese and western people have devoted their lives to great cause. During the Warring States Period, the Qin Kingdom struggled hard, and the seven generations of ghardworking kings led the Qin people to fight to death, eventually creating an immortal Chinese empire for thousands of years. At this time, we say that without such sacrifice, this great cause can not be completed.
When a great mission falls on your shoulders, you are not you, you represent millions of people.孟子, this great philosopher said again: if heaven gives a man a great mission, it will make his mind suffered, make his body tired, make him hungry, make his body empty, and his every action will be disrupted. This will enhance his will and enable him to do what he can not do.
If you are undertaking a great cause, you will suffer, and you deserve it.
So should we die for the great cause? My answer is that we can sacrifice our lives for a great cause instead of should. You should not be forced to die（should）, but you can die for a great cause.
